I worked as the main rendering guy in this game project: https://youtu.be/WooRnBF5F-Y?t=3602
A bunch of games were pitched and students voted on games they wanted to work on. Students were then assigned to projects that qualified.
In short, Rubio is a platformer where you play as a retired wrestler frog who shoots out his tongue to latch on to objects and swing himself through the game's levels. The artstyle and gameplay was heavily inspired by games such as Rayman Legends.
During the research stage of the project, I had to learn how to render in a style that resembled Rayman Legends, and then optimizing that process so I would have enough time to render all of the game's 2D assets. It would be a pretty heavy workload but I managed to do it with the help of other 2D artists. I was responsible for rendering props, tiles and textures.
When making props and tiles, I received lineart made by the 2D lead which I then optimized and rendered.
